Cadastral Law

The system of mortgage registries that we knew has now been replaced by the Cadastre, a public digital database where research is conducted based on the property, in whose record real rights are registered.

Its aim is to ensure transparency and security in transactions concerning real estate, even remotely, while the registration of acts for entry is now completed in less than seven days.

It records details such as the location, boundaries, and area of each property, as well as the owner or other rights holder, so that the legal status of the property and any encumbrances/claims upon it are clearly visible at any given time.

Through the cadastre, disputes over ownership or property rights are avoided, while there is always the possibility to contest and ultimately correct inaccurate entries that have been registered and do not reflect reality.

It is an important tool both for citizens and the state, as it contributes to the protection of ownership and proper urban development, especially considering the ongoing cadastral surveys of more and more municipalities and regions today.
